THE WORK

In my work I combine various elements from movies, books, comics, and media through various forms of painting and sculptural techniques. I use these precomposed images as a backing to allow me to play with paint, while drawing forth pertinent dialogues about my perception of human nature, and the lessons we have forgotten we learned from them. I draw characters, images, and musical influences together to create compressed, mashed spaces that reflect cyclical, obsessive emotion. Repetition is a method to both idolize and annihilate. I use both the repetition and annihilation of the image to compress multiple lengths of time; the length of a movie, a comic, a book, or a thought into one concentrated composition.  The work should challenge the viewer; to overwhelm them with these depictions of movement, speed, violence and memory.  These paintings are a passionate, sarcastic, campy journal of much free association on how physical and outdated media, as well as the messages carried within, become echoes in a world of streaming media and instant gratification.
